Buyers Guide for Radio Controlled Helicopters

The Radio Models.uk.com guide to buying a Radio Controlled Helicopter suitable for you.

Looking for a RC Helicopter?

The internet is flooded with RC Helicopters and it is very difficult deciding on what model to choose.

Here at Radio Models we like to offer a good Range of Helicopters suitable for the beginner and those who are looking to step up to the next level we specialize in this field.

Why buy from us?

Every RC Helicopter we stock has been extensively tested and approved before we list them on our website; we only sell RC helicopters that we know are good quality, excellent value for money and are helicopters that we would be happy flying ourselves.

3 Channel Radio Controlled Helicopters

3 Channel RC Helicopters are the easiest models on the market to fly and as such are a great starting point for anyone wishing to take up Radio Controlled Helicopter flying

They are also ideal for just playing around.

Most of the 3 Channel Models are only suitable for indoor use but there are many models that can be used outdoors on calm days.

It is now becoming popular to fit a Gyro to some of these Helicopters, although this makes them a little more expensive it is well worth the cost.

The gyro helps the Helicopter to remain stable in flight, this is great if you are new to Radio Controlled Helicopter flight.

One word of warning in regard to flying 3 channel Models outdoors, please be aware that these models are very good value for money but given their lower cost the transmitters do not have the range of the 4 and 6 Channel Models,  they are however fast and it is possible for them to get out of range and crash.

4 Channel Radio Controlled Helicopters

Our 4 Channel RC Helicopters are usually larger than the 3 Channel models and more serious RC helicopters. These models are a perfect step up from the 3 Channel Models and will enable you to develop the skills needed to fly larger more advanced 6 channel helicopters.

With 4 Channel helicopters you have very precise control and can fly forwards/backwards, up/down, left/right and spin left/right on their axis.

All of the 4 Channel models have a much greater transmitter range and most can be flown outdoors on calm days.

Due to the higher level of equipment supplied with these Models they are more expensive, but offer great value for money and a perfect stepping stone to full 6 channel models for those who need it.

Alternatively they are simply good fun with a greater range.

6 Channel Radio Controlled Helicopters

6 Channel RC Helicopters are the most advanced helicopters on the market. They have more moving parts than the 4ch models.

The difference between the 4ch and 6ch models is that on 4ch models the angle of the main rotor blades is fixed (fixed pitch) where as on the 6ch models the angle of the main rotor blades changes when you increase/decrease throttle (collective pitch) making them much more responsive.

A 6 Channel Model is the nearest thing to a real Helicopter in respect of its in-flight behaviour.

These models are a good step up from 4ch models once you have mastered flying.

Whilst you can learn to fly Radio Controlled Helicopters with a 6 Channel Model by using various training aids we would not recommend it because it could be an expensive re-build!
